The mission of the Michigan Society of Medical Assistants is to enable medical assisting professionals to enhance and demonstrate the knowledge, skills and professionalism required by employers and patients; protect the medical assistants right to practice; and promote effective, efficient health care delivery through optimal use of multi-skilled Certified Medical Assistants(CMAs and CMA (AAMA)s).ORGANIZATIONAL POLICY MSMA/AAMA is hereby declared to be non-profit. It is not, nor shall it ever become a trade union or collective bargaining agency. No person otherwise qualified for membership in MSMA/AAMA, shall be denied membership because of race, religion, national origin or political affiliation. Any person who participates in the activities of an organization, whose purpose is to overthrow the government of the United States, shall not be a member of MSMA/AAMA. Scope of Practice

Certified Medical Assistants perform delegated clinical and administrative duties within the supervising physician's scope of practice consistent with the CMA's education, training and experience. Such duties shall not constitute the practice of medicine
